IMHO the channels are designed to be self-contained at the moment, but
what you propose is perfectly reasonable.

The list of paths that you need and are missing in the channel is easy
enough to get (simple scripts, via "comm"), but it seems nix-push will
always push the whole closure at the moment, so you would have to
either patch it or do the thing by some simple scripts.
