One more thing to consider adding to the list: the gcc 4.7 development 
is in stage 4 ( regression and documentation fixes only), so the release 
of 4.7.0 shouldn't be that far off. I'd like to consider waiting until 
the release so that we don't have an out-of-date gcc right after a merge 
from stdenv-updates.
