We have some cases like that in in nixpkgs: gcc, gnat, ghc, ...
We usually label the prebuilt as 'bootstrap', for example, and then with it we
build from source that used by other packages. Namely 'that package'.
That prebuilt may even change rarely, while we update the versions from that
built from source.
