It requires some revision of it.. There are legitimate situations where
there are occasional command failures..

Well, in its current form - not really. You want to have this script
up-to-date enough to proceed whatever updates can be done with it in
your nixpkgs.

No. I dislike Git and I see no point in keeping this script outside of
Nixpkgs. Maybe it should be in the maintainers/ area, if we create a
good place there..
