FWIW, Freemind currently works for me (it's
/nix/store/fxxzwxnnrfv30xli3h8amj5mr2kqi178-freemind-0.9.0_Beta_20 on
i686, NixOS).  IIRC Marc Weber strove to make it work, so he might have
ideas on why the wrapper was needed, etc.
