[Nix-dev] Doc feedback: the very first steps

So, would someone be willing to do either of these? Autoconfigured 
makefiles are beyond my skills so I can't really modify the build to get 
what I want.

And, without proper documentation I can't build the docs, either.

Or, a new, genuinely stable release would be good, too, but I think the
development environment should also be easy to set up, to attract more
contributors.

It would feel stupid to delay adopting this promising piece of software
because of problems processing some XML I didn't want in the first place,
in a development environment I didn't want in the zeroth place :)
