well, it feels fairly sensible to expect a package that says "I'm git
built from the current HEAD of the git repository" to be, like, a git
built from the current HEAD of the git repository. I think it would be
pretty unreasonable to expect anything else, so if the package is
building something else, the version identifier should reflect that. I
can't judge whether that glob patch is good or not, but clearly it is
not part of the git repository. As far as I'm concerned, it's fine to
apply it, but please don't denote the resulting binary as git from the
git repository. It's not.

I've committed a patch that modifies the ${name} of the package.
Personally, I'm perfectly happy with that solution.
