Re-downloading from a trusted source (cache.nixos.org) gives the same "incorrect" checksum again. Of course it could be possible that the file is corrupted on cache.nixos.org, but following the "select isn't broken" rule[1] I would start to search elsewhere. This is just a suspicion not a hard proof. Perhaps you get the checksum errors due to something completely different.
