nix-env -qa --description '.*grep*.'
gnugrep-2.25 GNU implementation of the Unix grep command
grepm-0.6 Wrapper for grepmail utilizing mutt
ngrep-1.45 Network packet analyzer
pdfgrep-1.3.1 A tool to search text in PDF files
Also, you can go to http://nixos.org/nixos/packages.html and search grep.
