[Nix-dev] mixing stable release with master.

I am trying to port huginn service to nixos.  If I want to add the
service to my local box, how would I go about doing this? if i do a
nixos-rebuild -f /path/to/my/fork/nixpkgs wouldnt it upgrade everything
to master?  I only want to upgrade the package i am working on.  in past
i have done just nix-env -f /path/to/my/fork/nixpkgs -i PKG  but that
wouldn't work for a service.
