If it's switchable graphics, I'd first try to set bios to make intel the
default, as that's more reliable, especially when restricted to free
drivers (such as the installation ISO).

If it isn't switchable, it can still help to delete nomodeset and then
modprobe nouveau (forcing it despite the blacklist).
