Yes, generally I certainly feel that the rapidly growing number of 
contributors requires more structure for our workflow and more/better 
docs, so the situation can be managed more efficiently (even soft 
policies; say, explicit guidelines).

We did already some helpful steps (travis for PRs, staging and release 
branches, ...), but we probably need some more.

I agree the controversial issues are relatively painful, but I don't see 
how to help it (though I haven't put much effort into finding out).
