if I remember correctly, then ~/.nix-defexpr/nixpkgs_sys used to be the default
path under which Nixpkgs was installed on a NixOS machine for non-root users.
These days, we have ways to refer to Nixpkgs without hard-coding an absolute
path. I updated https://nixos.org/wiki/TexLive_HOWTO to reflect that.
