[Nix-dev] cabal install vs. libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel to work

Further updates on this.

The origin of this "glibc without gcc_s" feature is:
  https://github.com/nixos/nixpkgs/commit/4b27d2870197b26b7c170caa333944231715d4a3

Someone did an svn merge without keeping the commit messages, so the
original reasoning is lost.  (I'm not willing to get an old svn checkout
of nixos and start to dig there, sorry!)

But later this is mentioned again in:
https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/commit/a9634c0c5a08edb66a68a724d68b5500e7fa72cd

Where Eelco says that he is maintaining the rm to get rid of a
dependency from glibc -> bootstrap-tools, which seems sensible to me.
Maybe this was the original reason.

So my proposal is still option #2 with this pull request:
