[Nix-dev] Customizing packages via overrideDerivation

Take care about nixos path? It should be /root/hack/nixpkgs/nixos (or there should be a symlink)
nixos repository has been merged into nixpkgs

If this does not work try stripping down configuration.nix, if you still
don't have success I can offer reviewing your configuration.nix file.
