Apologies, I'm checking email from windows at the moment. I can tell you
that my nix path is correctly reflected by the first three "adding path"
items in the debugging output above. That path is a fresh clone of my nixos
repos from github...pre-update. I believe that output was produced with
nix-1.5.1, but identical output can be had by typing the full path to an
older version of nix laying around in the store (1.2+numbers).

Googling, I did find someone else "reporting" this. By "reporting", I mean
he captured output onto pastebin and asked about it on IRC. No response
tho, and no indication of a resolution. However, the pastebin output is
almost identical to my issue with "nixos-rebuild", down to the exact file
and line number(s).
