Yes, I agree completely.  In particular the stdenv branch should go because it
always tends to take ages to merge.  Much better to use a short-lived branch for
specific changes.  For example, I've put the upgrade to Glibc 2.18 in its own
branch (glibc-2.18).  This allows Hydra to show exactly what packages are broken
because of Glibc 2.18:
