For what I know, nixos-unstable includes only linux packages manifests, and as
for that, it should be smaller than nixpkgs-unstable manifests.

And for the nixexprs they bring:
1) nixos includes expressions for both nixos and nixpkgs
2) nixos has only expressions that hydra has finished to build (or fail to
build)

nixpkgs-unstable does not have nixexprs/MANIFESTS linked, and it can easily have
newer nixexprs than the manifest it provides.

Let's see if I got it right!
