Great,
I didn't have a clue about this possibility as well, it should certainly 
be the default for GRUB 2.

By the way, are there still problems with partition detection on GRUB 2? 
I remember nixos-rebuild overwrote some important things there on one of 
my dual-boot machines (a long time ago).
