Well, of course, I wondered about downgrading the version of ruby that is
passed to *texLive*. I had no intention of changing the global 'ruby'
attribute to achieve that. Anyway, I don't know much about Ruby, and I don't
much about Tex either. Apparently, Ruby 18 and 19 are quite incompatible? So
I asked about the downgrade because I'm worried that the downgrade is going
to break stuff in TeX that I don't know about.
I guess the best way to find out whether that's the case or not is to commit
the change ...

I don't know how to run patchShebangs in pkgs/misc/tex/texlive/default.nix.
If anyone else know how to do that, then please give fixing this problem a
try.
Take care,
Peter
