[Nix-dev] consolekit mandatory?

Hi all,

I'm trying to get rid of X11 dependencies for a server.
I found that currently, consolekit is pulling in libX11
unconditionally and consolekit itself is installed unconditionally
too.

I'm not very familiar with consolekit, because it has always "just
worked" for me on a desktop setting, and it hasn't bitten me for
servers yet either, but I'm not sure if modern systems (especially
servers) can still function without it.
The website for consolekit mentions consolekit is no longer actively
maintained in favor of systemd-loginctl,

Should we try to make consolekit optional?
Can anyone shed some light on this?
