Hi Peter,

In addition to what others said, keep in mind that nix-prefetch-git is
what Hydra uses to fetch Git repositories.  Thus, introducing a
regression can break projects at <http://hydra.nixos.org/>.

Besides, please make sure that any change introduced doesn’t break the
awful <http://hydra.nixos.org/jobset/gnu/glibc-hurd>, which uses a
“special” Git repo (such the archive for more info.)  :-)
