I believe GCC (the real one) would not actually work on Darwin, but I
can’t tell for sure.  I’ve been trying to get 4.6 compiled there, but I
see there’s still something wrong with libelf builds.

Anyway, I wholly support this endeavor.  Assuming GCC becomes available
on Darwin, I think it still makes sense to have Apple’s GCC around for
those doing portability testing on Hydra (Apple’s fork has a wealth of
unique bugs, spiced up with subtle incompatibilities, which makes it an
interesting test platform.)
