Hm, that command succeeds on my work machine which runs an Ubuntu
11.04 "respin" called Pinguy OS 11.04 (32-bit). Pinguy is binary
compatible with Ubuntu (it uses the same repos), but when I get home
I'll try it on a genuine Ubuntu 11.04 system.

I have installed nix-0.16 from source.
