Hi Marc,

 > So what's killing the idea?

I am not quite sure what idea you're referring to, but I assume you mean
the idea of me using hack-nix? Well, if that was the question, then my
answer would be that it doesn't do what I need.

 > - you think its broken by design?

No, I don't think that. I cannot judge whether hack-nix is good or not.
All I can judge whether it does what I need or not. Those two things are
different.

 > - me having arrogant communication style ?

I don't believe that you have an arrogant communication style. Generally
speaking, I don't believe that such as a thing even exists. Personally,
I find it hard to communicate with you, but clearly other people don't
have that problem. We don't communicate easily, because we have no
intuitive understanding of each other. That means we're probably very
different. There is no value implied in that statement, though. People
are different, and some understand each other better that others.

 > I assume that we both enjoy coding more than packaging.

Actually, I wouldn't say that about me. I'd rather say that I enjoy
*playing*. Sometimes, I'm in the mood to play with Nix. I love it when I
push a few little buttons, and a moment later somewhere in the
Netherlands Hydra explodes. (Yes, yes, I know ... I try hard to keep
that hobby in check. Please bear with me.) On other occasions, I feel
like playing with the Haskell compiler. I read about some mad extension
to the type system. Then I frantically search for problems that would
need that kind of extension to be solved, and then I pretend that I
would have that problem, so that I can use the type system extensions to
solve it.

Anyway, most of the games I play have to do with building things, i.e.
software, since I am good at that. Sometimes I build other peoples
software (packaging), and sometimes I build my own (coding). I like
both.

I am sorry. I didn't respond to that question because I assumed that you
know where cabal2nix is. That was probably a bad idea. The repository is
at <http://github.com/peti/cabal2nix>.

Yes, that perception is perfectly accurate.

Thank your very much for the offer, Marc. I appreciate that you're
willing to give me an account on your machine. It's just that I really
don't think hack-nix is the right tool for me. My ideas about how such a
program should work are different than yours.

Take care,
Peter
