this did the trick. Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately, though, this isn't the end to our troubles yet. Now that
NetSMTP builds, the next error occurs during the test phase of
IO-Socket-SSL-1.33. The 'nonblocking" suite produces a bunch of errors
that seem to be related to unsupported socket options. I'm not really
sure what those failures mean. :-(
