[Nix-dev] Frozen updates to stdenv-updates

Hello,

since some days ago, and with emphasis in irc talks, ludovic, me, niksnut and
ikwildwrepper more or less agreed on stabilising stdenv-updates to allow a merge
to trunk soon.

In fact we thought for two weeks we had the stdenv-updates in a quite good
state, after some run it. Nevertheless, recently Peter Simons commited some
changes to stdenv there, reminding us that we did not communicate clearly our
agreement other than through IRC.

So, unless someone disagrees, let's consider stdenv-updates frozen for all but
bug fixes.

As we have no fixed definition for what falls into "bug fix" and what not,
I expect we all share a close idea about that.

Although I write this letter, I don't mean having any authority in the merge -
someone had to start the thread again though.

As in the thread we started some time ago, feel free to report on anything we
may have broken that at some point was working and now in stdenv-updates is not.
We will try to get it working again.
