Thanks, that's a useful patch to remove duplicated chown & chmod  of
/nix/store.  I wonder if we don't want to have the same thing for
/etc, like checking if kill-etc is not already linking to the same
profile before reseting everything.  The advantage of replacing it
each time is to avoid deadly hand-made modifications, but for such
case we can add an additional argument to the initrd to force the
reset.

By looking at the code, I can't see either.
