In console gpm is present. Unfortunately, it may not be the case for
LiveCD. I recommend you the following: create a disk image (just a file
of a few tens MB). mkfs.ext3 disk.img . Pass disk.img as a virtual image
 to VirtualBox. Mount it as, say, /mnt/disk-img. When nixos-install
keeps giving the same errors, run "nixos-install &>
/mnt/disk-img/nixos-install-log". After it finishes, you can shut down
VirtualBox and do "mount -o loop disk.img /mnt/disk-img" on host
machine. Now you can send us nixos-install-log..
