I haven't tried the rollback because i could find the right old
environment :-( but i guess a rollback was nog possible because the
database scheme is changed. See
http://nix.cs.uu.nl/dist/nix/nix-0.10pre4855/release-notes/
How can one harnass nix for such an upgrade/rollback problem?
I quess normal package upgrade are not an issue but what about
- nix
- nixpkgs
- stdenv (?)
The threesome software, configuration and data where the problem here
1. upgrading nix (software) causes
2. data to be converted slightly but because
3. the configuration was not changed it was not possible to rollback.
Maybe this should be seen as a service upgrade with database backup
instead of just a software upgrade.
Or shouldn't it be possible to do a nix-env --install nix? Nah, that
would mean doing a manual backup-restore procedure.
Should we made this an issue?
Regards,
Clemens
